For too many fms roofs are a prime example of out of sight out of mind but maintenance is vitally important if you want to keep the rest of your building in good shape.
Maintain the roof and make patches.
Cut your new asphalt.
Remove the shingle and use your pry bar to lift the shingle above it.
Put flux on the roof where the patch will be and on the edges of the patch.
Patching your roof place you ladder securely up against the side of your home and climb up to your roof.
Place the patch on the hole and weight it down with a brick.
Hold solder on the seam and heat with soldering iron so that it melts and runs under the patch.
Cover the patch in a final layer of cement.
Scrape off any loose or flaking roof coating with a putty knife.
Apply one or two inch strips of butyl tape around the perimeter of the patch area.
How to keep your roof leak free.
Then clean up your material and leave the patch undisturbed so it becomes a strong long lasting part of your roof.
Cut a patch out of galvanized metal to a size that overlaps the hole by two to three inches on all sides.
The layer should be even with the rest of the roof and about 1 2 in 1 3 cm thick.
Scoop more cement on the new patch then begin spreading it out with a trowel.
